Mayang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located in the vicinity of the Mayang area of the Zhada County, Ali Region, Tibet. It was named by the Regional Reconnaissance Expedition under the Tibetan Geological Bureau in 1987.
Lithology and Thickness
Claystone. Black slate, intercalated with grey-yellow quartz-sandstone, and partially with pebble-bearing slate. Thickness is about 80 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Disconformable or locally unconformable contact with the underlying Jiesheng Gr of the Lower Carboniferous Series (but regionally the next older unit is the Dingbo Gr of Upper Carboniferous)
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Mangzongrong Fm,
Regional extent
Distributed only in the vicinity of the Mayang area of the Zhada County.
